Here’s the other West End Plan pair of towers proposed on Davie Street by Marcon with 153 market condo units in 18 and 20 storeys over a three and four storey podium with 68 social housing units. It will replace a 1979 four storey rental building, and a 1950s 3-storey apartment building next door. The remainder of the block is also being redeveloped with the Jervis, a condo and non-market rental tower.
Like the Robson Street proposal, this project isn’t a rezoning, so it doesn’t have to go to Council. It’s following the new West End Plan, and the Development Permit Board has the project on their agenda for the same meeting as the Robson Street project in December, provided the Urban Design Panel approve. As with many other recent West End housing projects, the architects are Henriquez Partners.
While the zoning permits retail uses, and the Jervis next door has added a store on the corner with Davie, here the developers have chosen to use the main floor for social housing and amenity space.
