There’s been a rezoning proposal on this site for years. It started as a condo and rental tower designed by W T Leung that went through a couple of iterations and ended up with non-support from the Urban Design Panel.
Westbank acquired the site and Henriquez Partners designed a similar height tower that initially had 171 rental units, including 72 2-bed and 3 3-bed units. This design (below) had curved balconies that are reminiscent of Jameson House – although they didn’t feature a dramatic cantilevered section.
This night view also suggested an interesting design detail; sail-shaped elements. The project was rezoned in September
Now the development permit has been submitted which shows a somewhat different, and slightly more contemporary design. There are now 173 rental units in total, and 26 will now be non-market rental.
