Willow Pavilion

Here’s a recently completed project that received very little attention. In 2010 Vancouver General Hospital started to renovate the Willow Pavilion, a reinforced concrete six-storey building in the centre of the hospital campus.

It was finished earlier this year after a $28m program of almost total reconstruction within the shell of the Townley and Matheson mid-40s structure, and includes a 79 bed mental health unit. The rehabilitation of the building, which appears to have once been considered for demolition, includes this striking entrance addition designed by dys Architecture.
