Spruce and Wesley

Spruce and Wesley are two recently completed condo towers on West Broadway. A couple of blocks apart, Spruce sits on the corner of (surprise!) Spruce Street, while Wesley replaces the former ballroom that more recently housed the Big Bamboo / Barcode club.

There are now three adjacent towers on the Spruce block, each handled somewhat differently in terms of design. Spruce was designed by Nigel Baldwin and has spiral staircases on the penthouse floor similar to his Pulse building found further west on Broadway (and on Arthur Erikson/Nick Milkovich’s Waterfall building). Wesley is by W T Leung, who is probably responsible for more buildings on West Broadway than any other architect. It features some quite surprising green panels, while in contrast Spruce is mostly white or very pale grey.
