Patina & The YMCA

Completed just as The Changing City was hitting the bookstores, Patina is a surprisingly big tower, permitted to allow the restoration of the 1940s YMCA building (designed by McCarter and Nairne who had earlier designed the Marine Building) and through the creation of the childcare facility on the roof.

Patina was designed by Endall Elliot for Concert Properties and has over 250 units in 42 storeys. Technically it’s in the West End, so the population of that neighbourhood can be expected to continue to rise for a bit longer as the vacant and underdeveloped sites along the edges are added to along West Georgis and here on Burrard Street.
